Mission/Purpose

The mission of the Aircraft Coating Technician program is to educate and train individuals in the fine art of re-painting aircraft. This includes removing aircraft coatings and paint, inspecting the aircraft for any structural damage, repairing as necessary, and finally preparing the structure surfaces for the new coating and the application of new coating. The Jacksonville Aviation Authority has combined resources to construct the Aviation Services Educational Facility. In cooperation with an aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operator, the college will conduct training in the facility to train aircraft painters (aircraft coating technicians) in the various processes involved in applying new coat of paint to the aircraft.

Career Opportunities, Rapid Placement

An Aircraft Coating Technician will find opportunities at painting and refurbishment facilities throughout the country. With the completion of the training in areas of safety and health under the guidelines of EPA regulations and the different coating application processes, graduates of the program will be competitive for employment with manufacturing or repair of general aviation, regional, commercial, military aircraft or type of aeronautical vehicles.

Certification and Licensing
